Our Pre-Kindergarten Program

Concord Preschool and Childcare is committed to supporting early childhood development in a nurturing and loving environment. The main goal of our Pre-Kindergarten program is to have the children prepared to be successful in Kindergarten by having a developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters Kindergarten readiness. This learning experience lays the foundation of continued school success and will help your child gain the confidence they need to help them succeed in their future endeavors. Our curriculum will focus on the social-emotional, language-literacy, mathematics, science, creative expression and physical development of your child as well as focusing on approaches to learning.

  • Gain the ability to problem solve through exploration, interactions, and discussion
  • Develop the ability to focus and complete specific tasks

Kindergarten Curriculum

Language and Literacy

Receptive Communication
  • Develop listening, attention, comprehension skills and follow a two or three-step direction
  • Identify particular sounds and increase vocabulary
Reasoning, Problem Solving and Initiative
  • Learn to verbalize a story to an adult
  • Learn to communicate using nouns, verbs and descriptive phrases
Emergent Reading
  • Identify letters of the alphabet and recognize letter sounds
  • Show comprehension by answering questions to a story
  • Hold a book upright and turn the pages starting from the front
Emergent Writing
  • Use symbols or drawings to express experiences on papers
  • Practice writing left to right and top to bottom
  • Develop hand-eye coordination required for written communication

Mathematics

  • Develop an awareness of counting numbers and quantity
  • Recognize numbers and recite numbers in sequence
  • Use language to compare numbers such as more, less and same
Patterns / Measurement
  • Recognize and copy simple patterns with a variety of materials
  • Sort and match objects according to color, shape or size
  • Use non-standard (hands, yarn or blocks) or standard (ruler, measuring tape) to measure things
  • Explore measurable elements (weight, volume, length or time)
Geometric and Spatial Sense
  • Put together increasingly more difficult puzzles
  • Begin to build and draw two and three-dimensional shapes

  • Learning about healthy habits: personal care, hygiene and nutrition

We provide education to children ages 1 through Kindergarten.

SPECIAL ITEMS

Snack - We provide a snack in the morning for all children and a second snack in the afternoon for the children who stay for childcare; milk and juice are also provided

Arts and Crafts - The children will paint, color and use arts and craft supplies

Music and Physical Education - Your tuition includes a music program and physical education for all of the children enrolled; these classes are conducted by our specialized music and physical education teachers
SPECIAL EVENTS

Halloween Parade – In October all children will participate in the Halloween Parade

Fire Truck – During Fire Prevention Week, the fireman and his fire truck will visit us and talk to the children about fire safety

Performances – Throughout the school year such as puppet shows and plays

Lunch with Santa – In December Santa will come to visit, give gifts, eat lunch and sing songs with us

Traveling Zoo – Every May, the Traveling Zoo will visit and let us see their small animals
